In the midst of the Cold War crisis, a group of scientists at the Vinča Institute is conducting a secret project led by Professor Dragoslav Popović. Due to unforeseen circumstances, they are exposed to a deadly dose of radiation, leading the Yugoslav secret police to take them for treatment at the Curie Clinic in Paris. A French medical team, headed by Professor Georges Mathé, concludes that their condition is critical, and their days are numbered. He proposes a delicate and uncertain intervention, which, for the first time in history, raises the disturbing question of whether it’s an experiment on living people or a genuine effort to help the Yugoslav scientists.
